The Pittsburgh Penguins defeated their Atlantic Division rival, the New York Rangers, as they extend their winning streak to eight, while the Rangers lost their third straight game.

The Penguins' eight-game winning streak has propelled them to the top of both the Atlantic Division and the Eastern Conference. Pittsburgh is currently 21-8-0 with 42 points—due in part to a 9-4-0 home record—and are now alone atop the conference. Within their division, the Pens have a 10-point lead on the second-place New Jersey Devils, and a 14-point lead on the third-place New York Rangers.

The Rangers, meanwhile, have now fallen out of the playoff picture as they sit in ninth place in the Eastern Conference. ...
