Soak in Marc-Andre Fleury while you can during the Stanley Cup playoffs, because it may be the final time you get to see him as a Pittsburgh Penguin.
Fleury will be between the pipes when the Penguins commence their first-round series with the Columbus Blue Jackets at Consol Energy Center on Wednesday night. The Penguins went 5-0 against the Blue Jackets during the regular season and are the No. 2 team in the East. They are expected to contend for a Stanley Cup or, at the very least, get back to the Eastern Conference Final for a second straight season.

As the 2013-14 regular season concludes, the Penguins and their fans can finally look ahead to what analysts like to call "the second season"—the Stanley Cup playoffs.
Having reached the 50-win plateau for just the third time in franchise history, the Pens have a lot of reasons to be proud of what they've accomplished so far this season.
However, as a team built to win now and blessed with two of the top players in the world in Sidney Crosby and Evgeni Malkin, anything less than a conference championship and a trip to the Stanley Cup Finals will be a disappointment.
As head ...

Pittsburgh Penguins head coach Dan Bylsma has come under increasing fire over the last two years for his ability—or lack thereof—to make in-game adjustments to his team during the playoffs. The Penguins have been knocked out of the postseason in embarrassing fashion three consecutive times, and Bylsma took a lot of heat following the Eastern Conference Final sweep meltdown at the hands of the Boston Bruins.
The perception is that Claude Julien was able to outcoach him in that series. That hasn't faded as the 2013-14 campaign has worn on, and Bylsma's name hit the funny papers once again after he failed ...

This is it—the last week we'll be able to talk about the 2013-14 NHL season in future tense. After the next few games, the Pittsburgh Penguins will put a stamp on this campaign and head into the playoffs with revenge on the brain.
Revenge for an embarrassing showing in the Eastern Conference Final last season. Revenge for an early exit the year before. And the year before that.
The 2013-14 season has just felt like a long and wordy prelude to the story that really matters—the forward at the beginning of a poetry book. It's time for the Penguins to rip it ...

Unless you're among the stingiest of Sidney Crosby "haters," you can look at the NHL scoring leaders and understand that no one is going to catch No. 87 as the 2013-14 NHL season comes to a close. He sits at 102 points and leads Ryan Getzlaf by 16.
The captain of the Anaheim Ducks is an outstanding player, but he's not going to rack up 16 points in his last three games. If you believe that he's going to do so, we have some hoverboards floating around that we'd love to sell you.
Oh, and Lil Wayne is totally dead. For real ...

Most teams and their fans would consider winning a division title reason enough to call a season a successful one.
For the 2013-14 Pittsburgh Penguins, however, no amount of regular-season success would be able to make up for yet another disappointing postseason performance if they come up short in their quest for the Stanley Cup.
Having lost four of seven playoff series since winning the Stanley Cup in 2009, the Pens are looking to make another deep run in the playoffs and, with Sidney Crosby and Evgeni Malkin in their prime, would view anything less than another championship banner as a failure.
As the regular season draws to ...

Paul Martin hasn't played a game for the Pittsburgh Penguins since February 7. As if the Pittsburgh Penguins hadn't been struggling enough with injuries throughout their 2013-14 campaign, the Team USA defenseman sustained a broken hand while playing in the Winter Olympics in Sochi.
Even with the NHL season frozen, the Penguins still managed to find ways to lose players. That's been the common thread that has woven their season together, though, and they have still managed to crack the 100-point barrier.
Another division title also appears to be in hand, and Pittsburgh is getting healthy just in time for the postseason. ...

With only six games remaining on their 2013-14 schedule, the Pittsburgh Penguins have entered the final stage of their season. They sit atop the Metropolitan Division and possess a 48-23-5 record—good for yet another 100-plus point season for the Penguins.
The Division is all but locked up, and with an eight-point lead over the third-place Tampa Bay Lightning—and with nine points between Pittsburgh and the Eastern Conference's top team, the Boston Bruins—the Penguins will almost certainly be the second seed in the first round of the postseason.
There are answers to several important questions for the team, but all is not settled. ...
